India-Ukraine ties set for a new chapter with Zelensky’s upcoming visit (Social media)
International News:Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is likely to travel to India soon, a move that could give fresh momentum to relations between the two nations. Ukraine’s Ambassador in New Delhi, Oleksandr Polishchuk, confirmed that discussions are taking place to decide on the dates for the visit.
The envoy noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited President Zelensky to visit India during his Kyiv trip in August last year. According to him, the visit would mark an important moment in bilateral relations and create new opportunities for cooperation.
Ambassador Polishchuk emphasized that India and Ukraine have vast opportunities for cooperation in various sectors, and a presidential visit would further strengthen their ties. Both sides are working to agree on a suitable date, and once finalized, the meeting is expected to provide a platform for strategic dialogue and stronger engagement.
In addition to this, reports indicate that Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to visit India by the end of this year. The possibility was discussed during the recent Moscow visit of India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Analysts believe that such a visit would come at a crucial time, when India is managing its ties with the United States, Russia, and China amid global trade and security challenges. If it takes place, the visit could also revive the Russia-India-China cooperation framework.
Throughout the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Prime Minister Modi has made repeated appeals for peace. He has often stated that “this is not an era of war” and emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way forward.
India has remained in contact with both Moscow and Kyiv. Modi has personally spoken with Presidents Putin and Zelensky, urging them to consider negotiations. The Ministry of External Affairs too has made it clear that the world community wants the conflict to end at the earliest and that talks are the only path to achieve this.
If President Zelensky’s visit takes place, it will not only strengthen India-Ukraine relations but also highlight India’s image as a nation advocating peace on the world stage. Meanwhile, a possible visit by President Putin would underline India’s ability to maintain balance in a complex international environment.
Together, these high-level engagements reflect India’s growing importance in global affairs and its effort to build bridges between nations locked in conflict.
